Why low calorie diets don’t succeed
The thing the diet industry neglects to tell you is that diet plans usually fail.
I know that you’ve found yourself in this particular situation. You start putting on just a little excess fat, until eventually you choose to begin a diet program. There are an incredible number of weight loss diets to pick from, but a lot of these suffer the same crucial problem. After you finish the diet plan, you regain the excess weight which you just lost, and very often a lot more. When food is in short-supply, your body acts by reducing one’s metabolism, which means you then need less food in order to keep your body functioning. However, your body is not now running at maximum capacity. Whenever food returns, ones metabolism will slowly go back to normal as well.
So what on earth takes place whenever you are on a calorie controlled weight loss plan? Well the body believes that that nutrition is in short supply, so it slows down its metabolic processes. The metabolic rate slows down, and your system ultimately ends up in need of a lot fewer calories than it used to. As you carry on with the diet plan, the body starts to break down excess fat and protein (inside the muscle tissues) to utilize their materials for fuel. However, as the metabolism slows down, so does the level of calories your body would need to maintain itself. At some point, even though you are continuing the diet regime, your excess fat loss slows up, and you hit a plateau.
If you complete the dietary plan, you will in many cases go back to eating how you did before you were on the diet program. There is a solution to this yo-yo cycle, and it does not begin and end with calorie consumption. You need to step-up your levels of activity, and eat a lot more sensibly, concentrating on healthy food and reducing the cookies, brownies and oily food which placed you into difficulties in the first place. Alter your diet and lifestyle, never go on a low calorie diet plan, and you can then enjoy your beloved treat as simply that – a treat, instead of an everyday essential of your diet.
