Fasting to Lose Weight Can Be Very Effective If Done the Right Way

In order to achieve your goals for weight loss, it may be time to try something new and different.  Fasting to lose weight is a plan that can be easily incorporated into your daily life, as well as be incredibly effective in assisting you in achieving your goals.

This plan is not the same as fasting that is taken on to observe religious holidays.  This is intermittent fasting which is done for 24 hour periods 2 or 3 times each week. Here is a sample of what a fasting day might be like:

1. Consume food as you normally do up until the evening meal (between 2 and 4 meals).

2. Stop eating after dinner.

#3. Do not eat again until it is dinner time the next day.

4. Eat a normal meal for your evening meal.

This way, you will always have some calories in your body even when you are performing a day-long fast.

Now I used to think that missing meals was bad for my metabolism and I would lose my precious muscles if I didn’t eat every four hours. But, I discovered that what I believed was wrong if I only fast periodically for a short length of time. Be aware that your metabolism will become sluggish if you fast for a long period of time; however that would take a number of weeks and extensive fasting to accomplish.

The end result of burning more calories than you take in is the basic premise of any diet no matter what formula is used by the dieter. 

Whatever diet you choose if you follow it properly there is a good chance you will lose weight just because you are eating less calories. The problem is that they are very hard to maintain and to be honest who wants to be on a constant diet. I have found that short term intermittent fasting, once or twice per week, can be a simple but effective strategy to help me consume a smaller number of calories over the week and help me lose body fat. However on the non-fast days you can’t just go crazy and eat what you want otherwise the calorie deficit you created will be lost. The trick is just to eat normal healthy meals, like you are doing already…right?

In my opinion short term fasting to lose weight is simple but fast way to achieve a caloric deficit, and therefore a great way to help you reach your weight loss goals. Give it a try; you only have fat to lose!
